Had a really good lunch here. More a small hotel atmosphere than a pub atmosphere I thought, The Mason's Arms up the road does that job a lot better, the sparse decor makes it feel a little cold despite the open fire, though it was a drizzly October in late afternoon with few people about when we were there which may not have helped. Friendly staff and good beer, no complaints.

Disappointing.
The Bluebird Bitter was off. The alternative was served much too warm.
The chairs in the bar area were old country style but many were too small for comfortable dining and mine creaked a lot!
There was an overall odour of 'Mr Sheen' polish about the place.
The steak was expensive but very good.
The gammon was undercooked and too salty.
The wine was well priced. The staff were very pleasant
The pub has been beautifully restored but I'm afraid on this occasion the food and beer did not really live up to expectations.
