Good Pub Guide Recommended

Relaxed linked contemporary areas plus attractive conservatory, modern bar and restaurant food, helpful service, real ales, and several wines by the glass After a smart refurbishment, this civilised place is more popular than ever and the genuine mix of customers keeps the atmosphere informal and chatty. The rooms are more or less open plan but with quite distinct seating areas. There are bare boards throughout and the little bar has leather cube stools, some tub and farmhouse chairs and a squashy sofa, high chairs beside the panelled, carved counter and a woodburning stove. Elsewhere, there are all sorts of dining chairs and tables, quite a bit of artwork on Farrow & Ball paintwork and an airy conservatory. Brakspears Bitter and Special, lots of wines (and champagne) by the glass, unobtrusive piped music and board games; helpful, friendly staff. A sheltered floodlit back terrace has tables under cocktail parasols looking over to the local cricket ground.

Good Pub Guide Food

As well as sharing plates and daily specials, the particularly good food might include lunchtime sandwiches, salt and pepper squid with tomato, red onion and lime and dill salsa, smoked chicken, spring onion and pine nut terrine with avocado cream, creamy wild mushrooms topped with a herb and brioche crumble, confit duck hash with a free-range egg, and maize-fed chicken on spring greens with a red wine jus.

Bar food times: 12 - 3, 7 - 9; all day weekends

Shame the pub has such a nice interior, but sadly no atmosphere. The customers service was cold and to much effort for some.

The Little Angel burger was over cooked and had gristle and fat making it non edible and certainly unpalatable. Food was over priced for quality received. And no constructive comments were passed back to the kitchen on our compliant.

I sadly feel this is a pub which displays a great chalk board at the front of the pub welcoming customers to experience there fab food, cosy pub, good beer & wine have clearly missed the point.

This is certainly a pub I would not recommend a return visit to now or in the near future, and would suggest that if you want good quality food and cosy atmostphere with friendly customer service then venture further into Henley town centre.

Nice pub, good food and friendly staff - and our dogs are welcome! A rare find.

To the person who criticised them for their attitude towards children - you are being very unfair. Their website says this: "We appreciate children are bundles of energy and ask parents to be mindful of this, so ensuring noise and any disruption towards fellow visitors to the pub is kept to a minimum." Note as well that says child - not baby or toddler.

If you were allowing a child to scream disrupting all the other diners and their experience of the meal then I think the pub were full within their rights. Eat at home until he or she is older and can behave to an acceptable standard.

I'm interested to know who deemed The Little Angel a good pub. My experience is far from good. A member of staff accused my 14 month old nephew of "shrieking". We cancelled our rather large order and left. The Little Angel says children are welcome. This couldn't be further from the truth. I'd also like to know how staff at The Little Angel suggest keeping a 14 month old baby quiet
