Location

Good Pub Guide Recommended

Handsome Georgian inn, fine range of food and drink, and lovely views from seats outside; stylish bedrooms There are plenty of original period features in this honey-coloured stone inn and the light and airy bar has a nice mix of wooden chairs and tables on bare boards, stripped stone walls, and a good log fire. Goffs Jouster, North Cotswold Pitbrook Bitter, and Purity Pure Ubu on handpump, 14 wines including fizz by the glass, local lager and home-made summer cordials. Plenty of seats under smart umbrellas in the large back garden for eating and drinking, and lovely views over the surrounding countryside. It's best to get here early to be sure of a space in the smallish car park. More reports please.

Now run by the Greenstock boys (Tom and Will) we were eager to check it out as we were staying at their parents' previous venture, the Howard Arms over in Ilmington and had heard good reports. We called on a Tuesday for an early evening drink around 5.45 pm on our way back from Chipping Campden, only to find it closed. We had diverted so were not well pleased. The car park too, was empty. Need to review their opening times please.

Disappointed with this pub - as we never got to try it. One evening we arrived early just as the owner closed the pub to go fishing. When we asked why, we were told "Because it's mine and I feel it." A few days later we passed it at 10pm on a Thursday and it was closed.

This is a fantastic pub. Tom the owner when around is always inviting and the whole place has a great warm atmosphere. Highly recommended.
