Using local and home-grown produce, the short choice of good if not cheap modern food includes soup, seared carpaccio of beef with chilli, ginger, radish and soy, deep-fried whitebait with lemon mayonnaise, griddled burger with red onion marmalade with rosemary aioli, pasta roulade of roasted squash with spinach and ricotta and sage butter, old spot pork chop with apple compote and mustard cream sauce, roast fillet of turbot with sautéed wild mushrooms, and puddings like baked maple syrup custard tart with poached rhubarb and chocolate fudge brownie with chocolate sauce.
