Visited 23 Dec; busy but still welcoming to party of 3. Real ales on tap in top condition. Expected to have to eat in the bar area but was ushered into dining room & well looked after. Starched table-cloths, elegant glassware, comfortable chairs. Good menu, top value 3-course dinner at £14.50 but we hadn't walked far enough to justify that ! Our group enjoyed chef's steak & stilton pie with separate gravy (pie was chock full with no space for liquid !), deep-fried haddock as it should be, and twice baked souffle done to a turn. All generous portions, good veg, excellent chips. House red good. Well pleased to have found via GPG; highly recommended by us 3.

The pub has nice decor, but the food not so good, and we found the landlady not to have the best people skills
