There's always the most extraordinary choice of up to 32 real ales quickly served by knowledgeable staff in this hugely popular, friendly pub. On handpump or tapped from the cask in a stillroom behind the bar - big windows reveal all there are their own beers The Fat Cat Brewery Tap Bitter, Cougar, Honey Ale, Marmalade Cat and Wild Cat, as well as Adnams Bitter, Batemans Salem Porter, Burton Bridge Stairway to Heaven, Dark Star American Pale, Felinfoel Double Dragon, Fox Heacham Gold, Fullers ESB, Greene King Abbot, Hop Back Summer Lightning, Kelham Island Pale Rider, Oakham Bishops Farewell, Potbelly Beijing Black, Spectrum Trip Hazard, Timothy Taylors Landlord, Tipples Moonrocket, Winters Bitter and Woodfordes Wherry. You'll also find imported draught beers and lagers, over 50 bottled beers from around the world plus ciders and perries. There's a lively bustling atmosphere at busy times, with maybe tranquil lulls in the middle of the afternoon, and a good mix of cheerful customers. The no-nonsense furnishings include plain scrubbed pine tables and simple solid seats, lots of brewery memorabilia, bric-a-brac and stained-glass. There are tables outside.
