Good Pub Guide Recommended

16th-c country pub with a wide choice of popular bar food, real ales in character bar, and plenty of seats in the garden Particularly on a chilly evening, the unspoilt bar of this 16th-c weatherboarded pub is a cosy and friendly refuge. There's a log fire in the inglenook fireplace (lit from October to April), traditional pubby furniture on flagstones, heavy beams and Fullers London Pride, Harveys Best and a guest like Hogs Back Spring Ale on handpump, up to a dozen wines by the glass, 12 malt whiskies and Weston's summer cider; piped music. There are three dining areas. Outside on the terrace and in the garden are lots of picnic-sets with views across open fields to the South Downs; the sunsets are pretty. Visiting dogs are offered a bowl of water and a chew, and their own dogs are called Fred and Tally.
