A Sweet Result
As you will know if you’ve read this my blog before, I work for BitterSweet Partnership, which is a business that has been set up by Molson Coors in order to encourage more women to try beer. So, as you can imagine we were delighted when 2010’s Cask report revealed that beer was voted as the nation’s favourite tipple, with a growing number of women trying it.
We think that this is also great news for pubs in the UK; pubs are the perfect environment to educate people about beer. Most pubs in the UK stock an array of different beers for their customers to enjoy, which can provide people with the perfect opportunity to sample beer.
Pubs can benefit greatly from the increased popularity of beer by encouraging their customers to try different types of beer. The Cask report has shown that over 8.6 million people in the UK drink beer, but more still needs to be done so people completely understand the depth of flavour and the ingredients that create delicious beer. Obviously, our main aim is to convince more women to try beer, so we think that it would be a great move forward for pubs if they offered more information about beer on their menus. We’d love to see beer menus that include simple information, such as the ingredients in beer and the food that it complements.
The increased popularity of beer is a positive step for the beer industry; we hope that this will continue throughout 2011! We’d love to hear your thoughts about the industry or any changes that you think might make beer more appealing for women. Let us know at your thoughts at: www.facebook.com/beerangels
