Licensee of The Harlequin
Hi, my name is Liz. After many years of supporting the pub and beer industry (ahem) I’m about to step across to the other side of the bar and take the lease on a real ale pub in Sheffield. While many people would – probably correctly – say that it’s a bad time to be getting into the pub trade, it’s something I’ve been interested in for some time. This interest has become stronger since 2008 when my fiancé Pete set up his own craft brewery, and we’re hoping that the two businesses will complement each other well. That’s the theory, anyway! I’m passionate about quality drinks, and about the retreat that good pubs can offer from the everyday hustle and bustle.
At the moment I have a number of conflicting views from my perspectives of consumer, brewery helper, and trainee landlady, and I’m hoping that these will offer some useful (or at least interesting!) insights into the UK pub scene.
