Summer Pubbing – Ideas to improve the outdoor pub environment for women

After a long and particularly snowy Winter, for the first time in what feels like an age we are now starting to see a bit of sunshine. For most of us, it’s about time – and it’s making us here at BitterSweet Partnership excited about what the spring and summer ahead will hold. Instead of huddling inside around the nearest radiator for warmth, we can’t wait to enjoy a beer while sitting outside the pub. The pub garden is one of the things that makes the Great British Summertime what it is.

At BitterSweet Partnership, we’ve been thinking of some ways publicans can make summer days at the pub even more enticing:

Don’t be afraid to be different! Many, if not most pubs will be promoting and showing World Cup matches. While many people will enjoy getting behind the England team, there are many people who couldn’t give a monkey’s about the match and will be looking for somewhere to go to get away from it while it’s on

Experiment with better seating options – when the sun’s out, of course everyone will want to sit outside. When all the available seating is taken, often we’ll sit on the grass or on the wall or wherever we can find – so why not supply additional garden furniture or even picnic blankets?

Add some new refreshing summer drinks to the menu – we’ve been experimenting with beer cocktails and think they taste even better in the summer! Check out some of our recipes here

Barbeques are a popular food option in pubs at summertime, but they aren’t for everyone. Some will be looking for a lighter option – why not investigate some more summery options to go alongside the traditional summer pub food?

So, that’s an even better summer pub experience for women sorted, in theory – now, does anyone have any great ideas as to how to make the sun come out and stay out?!
