A Year Of Women And Beer
As I’ve mentioned before in this blog, I work for BitterSweet Partnership, which is about encouraging women to choose beer as part of their drinks repertoire. We work to ignite a love of beer in women and challenge the stereotypes and myths that prevent some women from trying it. It’s our one year anniversary this week, so we’ll be raising a glass of beer to celebrate our birthday! It’s been a really exciting year – some of the highlights include:
- Blogging right here for the Good Pub Guide about women, beer and pubs – as someone who has worked in pubs for years I’ve particularly enjoyed writing about them! I’ve particularly liked writing about Beer and Food Matching, Making the Drinking Environment More Appealing to Women and Redesigning beer glassware.
- Holding beer and food matching sessions, and surprising many with how good beer and chocolate are together!
- Learning what women want from glassware, and joining up with Amy Molyneaux of PPQ in order to develop a designer half-pint glass
- Getting to the bottom of what men really think about women who drink beer – and finding that almost half (44%) would be pleasantly surprised to see their date order a beer
It’s been a great year but there’s more to come – the glassware I mentioned is being put into production right now, and we’re planning regular pub reviews in order to find the most appealing places for women to enjoy a beer. Watch this space!
